Control Your Automations Like Never Before.

The Automate Parameters Feature of JQD gives you control of Automation in a tap and press fashion that isn’t available in Reason and also creates smooth automation over time in a way is likely more precise than can be done by hand outside of drawing it with the pen tool. This page will give you instructions on how to use the tool. It starts with pressing the button in the left column labeled “Automate Parameters” which brings up a floating window. From that point, below are some steps to get you up and running

  • Automation turns off channel shifting so arrange your 9 available channels in advance

  • The Window can be dragged using the handle at the top.

  • Automation needs to be recorded to Reason Sequencer tracks using the features of the Reason Sequencer (Mirror doesn’t automatically save it to Reason and the data will be lost when Mirror is closed).

  • Touch any mixer control to start.

  • Use the arrows to move the transport. You can set the step to bar, 1/2,1/4. etc.

  • Touch any control and the automation will activate for it.

  • When No point has been set for a time you will see “ADD POINT”

  • Select a curve style.

  • “Jump” is a binary step. The level will not change until the playhead hits the time and it will jump to the next setting.

  • If the object is “on/off” (like a solo or mute), Jump is automatically set.

  • Add as many points as you wish, use the scrolling arrows to see more of the list.

  • When the playhead is at a point with a setting, that setting is editable.

  • Change the setting by touching the controller and then hit edit to save. The curve type can be changed as well.

  • points can also be deleted.

  • Press “Enable” to see you automation in Reason.

  • When Automation is enabled the values can not be edited.

  • Click on edit mode and this returns to editing and will disable the automation.

  • Click the in the top right to exit.

  • Make sure to record the data onto the sequencer channel for each parameter you automated.

  • If you chose to not delete the automation data and you modify channel order in Mirror the data will not shift with the Reason Channels.
